Switching to Direct Debit with Eazipay helps Koobr to expand

Based in Derby, Koobr combines creativity with commercial insight to design, produce and implement successful brand communications. They specialise in branding, graphic design, website design and digital marketing.

In business for over 15 years, Koobr has recently completed its busiest ever quarter and taken on three new staff. As Director Craig Barker explains, Eazipay and Direct Debit have been integral to the firm's expansion.

“When I started Koobr, we worked in a traditional way. Sure we produced innovative and eye catching designs, but we were very much a project based business. While the projects themselves were exciting, it meant we lived a slightly hand to mouth existence, always searching for the next piece of work and unable to predict our long term cash flow with any certainty.

“About three years ago I had one of those lightbulb moments and realised that actually design agencies don't have to work this way; that we could instead work with more clients on a retained basis. We could make our income predictable, give us some peace of mind and perhaps even expand.

“Having an idea is one thing, putting it into practice requires high quality business partners to make it happen. Which is why I'm delighted we found Eazipay.

“One of the daunting things about having retained clients is the amount of admin involved in keeping on top of the payments. The time eaten up in invoicing, chasing money etc means that that system really isn't feasible for a company of our size.

“What we needed was Direct Debit.

“At first I thought that too would be a bureaucratic nightmare and that we'd have to set up our own system. Then one of our clients recommended Eazipay and I was hooked.

“Yes the system is easy to set up; yes Eazipay are a joy to deal with, with excellent customer service; yes they pick up problems very quickly and set up new accounts fast. But that's really just the mechanics of it and not terribly interesting.

“What really excites me about Eazipay is what they have allowed Koobr to become: Direct Debit has transformed us.

“We are now effectively a virtual marketing department for dozens of companies and a regular monthly cash flow has enabled us to take on more staff and expand our business. Our turnover has increased exponentially.

“While the initial idea may have been mine, without Eazipay it would never have taken flight. They have been integral to our recent success.”
