new android app takes control of Direct Debits
April 9, 2013
A brand new mobile app from Bacs Payment Schemes Ltd (Bacs), the people behind Direct Debit, aims to put customers in the driving seat when it comes to controlling their regular outgoings.
With 72 per cent of household bills paid by Direct Debit keeping track of payment due dates can be tricky, and the app, the Direct Debit Control Centre, has been developed to make sure bill payers can stay on top of those regular automated bill payments.
The app, which is free to download and available now in the Play Store, allows users to list all their Direct Debits together along with payment dates, amounts and details of what theyre for.
Payment date reminders can also be set up making it easy for bill payers to ensure they have enough money in their account to cover the cost. So, if a Direct Debit is due and money is a bit tight, the alert can give users the chance and the time to make alternative arrangements to meet their commitments.
The new Direct Debit Control Centre also features a monthly overview screen, which instantly shows the total amount of Direct Debits in place for that month, together with a summary of how much is left to go out.
Users can also group their Direct Debits into categories, so, for example, all insurance Direct Debits or all utility bill payments can be grouped together for easy viewing.
