New independent chairman for Bacs

A new independent chairman has been appointed to the board of Bacs Payment Schemes Ltd (Bacs), the company behind Direct Debit and Bacs Direct Credit in the UK.
David Rigney took up his post for three years initially, from 3 June 2013. An experienced executive and non-executive director, David currently holds a number of non-executive roles, including sitting on the Advisory Council for enterprise application software firm SAP in Europe, Middle East and Africa. David is also non-executive director of recruitment company CPH, Sport Resolutions, which deals with dispute resolution in UK sport, and electricity balancing and settlement services company Elexon.
In addition, the former Nationwide group operating officer is a trustee with Access Sport, a charity for disadvantaged children.
Michael Chambers, managing director of Bacs, said: â€œWeâ€™re pleased to welcome David onto our board. With his experience as a non-executive director of a diverse range of organisations combined with his understanding of the financial sector, he will be a valuable addition to our leadership team.â€
