Eazipay's Direct Debit support is second to none
By any standards Northwood GB is a success story. From opening its first residential lettings office in 1995, it is now the Franchisor of the Northwood network of lettings and estate agencies.
Northwood boasts more than 80 franchised offices, 15,000 landlords, 400 employees and an annual turnover in excess of £70 million.
Companies approach Eazipay for one reason more than any other – they see Direct Debit as the best way of getting money in on time and as a result guaranteeing cash flow. Northwood, however, came to the bureau with a different priority – getting their franchisees a better deal on marketing costs. Finance Director Vikki Alexander explains.
“We offer our franchised offices substantial amounts of technical and legal support. The lettings market is changing fast and we keep on top of new rules, regulations and software so they don't have to. Northwood also undertakes an element of centralised marketing for our offices and, given that we're a national company, it makes sense to advertise right across the country.
“We wanted to advertise the business on television. Our franchises all contribute to this as they reap the benefit but it doesn't come cheap, so it was important that before we started we had a guaranteed income stream.
“Which is why we investigated Direct Debit. I found Eazipay using Google and then had them recommended to me by one of our suppliers.
“From our very first conversation it became clear that they were the company to use. They took me through every step of the process and fed me the information in bite sized chunks. They only told me what was relevant at the time and as a result I never felt overwhelmed by what is quite a technical procedure.
“The marketing campaign went well, both from a sales and Direct Debit perspective. There were no problems with receiving the money and the franchisees bought into the idea.
“Given its success, we're now aiming to use Direct Debit to give us more buying power. On their own, franchises may struggle to have as much clout with property magazines and websites. If, however, we can approach these same websites with the power of eighty offices behind us, we'll be in a much better position.
“Direct Debit can help us achieve that by ensuring we receive financial contributions on a timely basis, which will enable us to offer property sites one large lump sum as opposed to a series of small pots of money.
